ORRA MANDATE

Name - Of this organization shall be The Ontario Road Riders Association, also known as O.R.R.A.

Motto - Shall be "Clubs working together to promote a positive image of motorcycling"

 

Organizational Structure

The term of the executive committee shall be for two (2) years with nominations presented at the September meeting and voting conducted at the November meeting. The function of the executive will be to: Promote the image of O.R.R.A., to Increase members’ participation, and improve the inter-communication of motorcyclists via the O.R.R.A. newsletter, web site, and other promotional events and items.

The executive will be structured as follows:

Position Duties
President

To chair and coordinate meetings

Represent ORRA and its objectives to various external agencies and governments

Increase membership in ORRA       

Controller

Assume duties of the President in their absence

To collect fees/remittances and the like from Members

Coordinate membership renewals and insurance coverage

Provide financial statements increase membership in ORRA

Director of Safety & Awareness

To work with the Chair's

Provide ORRA information to external sources such as media,

Government etc. Increase membership in ORRA

Director of Member Relations

To attend meetings and tabulate correspondence / minutes of meetings

Maintain membership lists

Deal with member related issues Increase membership in ORRA

Director of Communications

Oversee all internal and external communication of ORRA

Webmaster

Build, maintain, and oversee the ORRA website

Functions

  • Prepare annually a calendar of events regarding activities and events hosted by Members of O.R.R.A.

  • Make available the liability insurance coverage document to those recognized Members.

  • Publish and distribute a periodic newsletter to inform and promote Member’s club events and activities, as well as promote the image of O.R.R.A.

  • Provide and maintain a website that is informative and useful in promoting O.R.R.A. and its Members and their objectives. Promote motorcycle safety, education, and awareness within O.R.R.A.’s membership, the motorcycling community and the public.

  • Liaise between provincial, and local municipalities regarding motorcycle legislation and other issues affecting the Ontario motorcycle community.  Participate in federal issues when applicable.

  • Encourage members to take an active role in local community oriented charities and organizations.

  • Support other similarly motivated organizations in achieving and/or improving their objectives, and public acceptance of motorcycling.

  • Entertain and follow-up legitimate complaints from Members regarding product failures, safety hazards, and the like.

Guidelines

Meetings will be held on Saturday’s at noon sharp in January, April, May September and November. Meetings will be hosted by Member clubs through-out the province. Exceptions are the January and April meetings, which will take place on the Saturday of the Supershows at the Toronto International Centre in Mississauga.

 

Membership is as follows:

Full Member

Open to any motorcycle oriented group/body of individuals, that have joined together as a club, association, society, fraternity, chapter of an association/ club/ group/ society, etc., and who are interested in furthering the purposes of O.R.R.A, it’s goals and objectives, and who are current in their O.R.R.A. membership fees. Each full member is allowed one (1) O.R.R.A. representative who may vote on motions/proposals. Any number of individual participants may attend the meetings, but only the designated O.R.R.A. representative or his/her delegate may vote on motions that may arise at these meetings.

Probationary Member

Probationary membership is open to any motorcycle oriented group/body of individuals, that have joined together as a club, association, society, fraternity, chapter of an association/ club/ group/ society, etc., and who are interested in furthering the purposes of O.R.R.A., it’s goals and objectives, and who are current in their O.R.R.A. membership fees.

Each Probationary Member is allowed one (1) O.R.R.A. representative who may not vote on motions/proposals until they have been awarded Full Member status. Six (6) months after a probationary Member has applied to join ORRA, the Full Members will review the Probationary Members application for Full membership. Acceptance of the Probationary Member to Full Member status will by a majority vote by the assembled Full Members at a regularly scheduled ORRA meeting.

 Membership in ORRA may be terminated:

  • When a member falls in arrears in the payment of fees.

  • Upon receipt of a written resignation from the Full Member to the ORRA Executive.

  • Upon recommendation of the ORRA Executive (with majority vote of represented O.R.R.A. members) of any Full Member whose conduct or actions otherwise disrupts O.R.R.A.’s goals/activities/ objectives and/or negatively affects O.R.R.A.’s image.

The membership year of O.R.R.A. will be the calendar year. Membership fees will be assessed annually on the third Saturday of September for the upcoming year. Fees will be due December 31st for the upcoming year.
